Whittlesea Community Connections

| The Hub  |  PRACE  |  WCC  |  THE SMITH FAMILY  |

Hi my name is Dean Marando and I am the coordinator at Thomastown West Community Hub.

We are here in partnership and collaboration with the primary school to help support your children’s educational development through identifying needs of the children. We have a range of programs that Norma and Hiba help to facilitate along with dedicated volunteers to help tutor your child.

The programs focus on English literacy and communication skills for those with additional language needs, creativity through chess and arts & crafts, literacy and numeracy skills at homework clubs, koori culture and life, STEM, and working on cooking and gardening skills.

Our school holiday programs are very well attended, with Art Studio a highlight, working on art installations and developing skills in artistry like clay, mosaics and painting. There are arts and crafts programs and movie days.

We also hold excursions that relate to the term programming, like swimming education and most recently going to Ceres in Brunswick to learn about food and sustainability.

Additionally City of Whittlesea run an early years playgroup, Smith Family run a Cool Learning Club and Prace run a Learn English class in which we support.

If you are a parent/guardian you can come and have a chat with us at anytime, you are also welcome to pop in and see our programs in action.

Kind Regards,

Dean Marando

Hello my name is Hiba and I am a Hub Support Worker at the Thomastown West Community Hub for Whittlesea Community Connections.

Every Thursday you can find me at The Hub, so join me from 11:00 am - 11:30 am in the school garden and attend The Little Green Hands to enjoy some gardening activities which will help us to make our garden at the School and the Hub beautiful. We garden together, planting beautiful flowers and trees and some yummy vegetables.

If you are from a Koori background, come and join the Koori Kids Group every Thursday from 1:30 pm - 2:15 pm at the HUB and explore your arts and crafts talents. Last year students made a beautiful mural and we are looking forward to seeing your awesome work again this year.

Come and join our programs in Term 2 and for the rest of 2019.
